Roda Golf: your home beside the course and near the Mar Menor
Roda Golf: your home beside the course and near the Mar Menor
Having a golf course close to home changes how you plan a round. You can set aside a morning to play all 18 holes, spend some time practising or book a lesson without turning every session into a day trip. If you also want to enjoy the coast, Roda Golf & Beach Resort is worth getting to know.
The resort is in Roda, a village in the municipality of San Javier, in the Region of Murcia, close to Los Alcázares and the beaches of the Mar Menor. Its location combines a home in a golf setting with restaurants, shops and things to do by the water in the surrounding towns.
An 18-hole course designed by Dave Thomas

Roda Golf's main attraction is its 18-hole, par-72 course, designed by Dave Thomas. The club's official scorecard lists five sets of tees, with lengths ranging from 4,443 metres from the orange tees to 6,110 metres from the white tees. This lets you play the course over different distances and adjust the challenge of your round.
The layout comprises four par 3s, ten par 4s and four par 5s, with different challenges across the front and back nine.
You need to think about ball placement from the very first hole: this par 5 features an almost 90-degree dogleg and a raised green protected by a bunker. Holes 3 and 4 also demand accurate tee shots and well-played approaches.
There are chances to aim for a birdie, including the 5th hole, a short par 5 where a good tee shot needs to avoid the bunker on the left of the fairway.
Water plays a prominent role at the 7th, a par 3 with an island green, and the 12th, a par 4 whose green sits on a peninsula in a lake.
On the 15th, the course's shortest par 4, you can choose a more aggressive or conservative tee shot to set up your approach. The round finishes at the 18th, a par 5 where a good drive gives you the option of reaching the green in two, carrying the lake.
Practice facilities and lessons for different abilities

For golfers who enjoy practising as much as playing, the academy has 15 covered bays and a floodlit driving range. There is also a putting green and dedicated chipping, approach and bunker practice areas to work on your short game.
Lessons are available for adults and children, from beginners to players looking to improve. Each family member can learn at their own pace, whether they are picking up a club for the first time or fine-tuning specific aspects of their technique.
Roda Golf's everyday amenities
The homes are arranged in residential communities with gardens and communal swimming pools, with shared spaces varying between communities. The resort also has 24-hour security and a gym.
The sporting facilities include Roda Padel Reserve, a club with panoramic glass courts, lessons for different levels and equipment hire. It offers another way to stay active or enjoy a match with friends who prefer padel.
The clubhouse is home to Vive Roda restaurant, with indoor dining and a terrace overlooking the course. The menu includes rice dishes, meat and fish. You can stay for lunch after your round or visit with family and friends who do not play golf.
This combination works well for holidays and for longer stays, when having sport and leisure activities close to home becomes part of your routine.
